On December 11, 2024, 31-year-old Markazsa Perry was fatally shot in southwest Fresno, California. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. near East Samson and South Lee avenues. Perry was in the backyard of a residence when three unidentified male suspects approached and fired over 40 rounds in her direction. She sustained a single gunshot wound to her upper body and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The suspects, described as Black male adults, fled the scene on foot and may have escaped in a vehicle. Investigators believe the shooting may be gang-related, although Perry herself was not known to be associated with any gangs.
