Marcus Barber, a 24-year-old Black man, was found dead on the afternoon of December 30, 2018, in Southwest Baltimore. Patrol officers came upon his body at about 3:30 p.m. in a wooded area along the 1000 block of North Franklintown Road, a place where the trees and brush can swallow sound and sight and keep a secret longer than it should. Police said he had been shot at least once, and homicide detectives took over the scene as the winter day faded.
