Del Shannon, born Charles Westover, was a prominent figure in the early rock and roll era, best known for his 1961 hit "Runaway." On February 8, 1990, at the age of 55, Shannon tragically took his own life at his home in Santa Clarita, California. He was found by his wife, Bonnie, who had left the house earlier to run errands.
