Daricko Stevens, a 21-year-old African American male from Eunice, Louisiana, was tragically shot multiple times on the night of November 16, 2020, in Orange, Texas. The incident occurred at approximately 7:42 p.m. in the 400 block of Knox Avenue, where Stevens was visiting relatives. He was found suffering from several bullet wounds and was immediately taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for surgery.
Despite the medical efforts, Stevens succumbed to his injuries three days later, on November 19, 2020.
The Orange Police Department launched a homicide investigation following Stevens' death. According to Captain Robert Enmon, the violence was gang-related, and Stevens had been involved in an ongoing conflict with individuals from his hometown of Eunice. The police believe that all parties involved, including the victim, were from Eunice, Louisiana. Detectives are currently searching for up to four suspects who are believed to have returned to Louisiana after the shooting. The Orange Police Department is collaborating with the Eunice Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies to track down the suspects.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and homicide of Daricko Stevens. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death, and the police are continuing to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses to bring those responsible to justice.
