Beverly Cassese, 65, a White/Caucasian woman, was found shot to death on August 17, 2025, in the Lake Los Angeles desert area near Lancaster. The county medical examiner later identified the woman as Cassese and determined the manner of death to be homicide, listing a gunshot wound to the head as the cause.

By August 19, officials publicly identified the dead as Cassese, 65, Juan Arteaga Diaz, 44, and Nazario Ramirez, 54, describing the site as an unincorporated desert expanse south of Lancaster. Detectives quickly announced a person of interest: 32-year-old Axel Treviño of unincorporated Lake Los Angeles. He was located and taken into custody as the investigation accelerated, and local outlets later reported his arrest in connection with the triple homicide of Cassese and the two men. Officials did not immediately detail a motive, and investigators continued to seek additional information while processing ballistic evidence and mapping the shooting scene.
