On November 15, 2024, 12-year-old Elijah Smith tragically lost his life during a shooting at a large house party in National City, California. The event took place at an abandoned residence on N Avenue near East Ninth Street, which had been the site of previous unauthorized gatherings. The party, reportedly advertised on social media, attracted over 100 attendees, predominantly teenagers and young adults.
