On the evening of November 13, 2024, at approximately 8:23 p.m., Frisco police officers responded to reports of gunshots near the Walmart located at the intersection of Eldorado Parkway and FM 423. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Ja'Karrion Craig lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to his chest and foot. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by officers and Frisco Fire personnel, Craig was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, witnesses reported seeing the suspect flee the scene in a gray sedan. Through multiple interviews and the review of security footage, detectives identified the suspect as 22-year-old Jerry Johnson from Denton, Texas. With the assistance of the Denton Police Department, Frisco SWAT located Johnson at his residence on Dallas Drive in Denton. He was taken into custody without incident on the morning of November 14, 2024, around 7:00 a.m., and subsequently charged with murder. Johnson was initially held at the Frisco Detention Facility before being transferred to the Denton County Jail.
The Frisco Police Department has stated that this appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. They have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains active. Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to contact the Frisco Police Department or submit anonymous tips via their designated channels.

A graduate of Lone Star High School's class of 2022, he was celebrated for his vibrant personality, passion for basketball, and dedication to his friends and family. Notably, he had recently embraced fatherhood, a role he cherished deeply. A celebration of his life was held on November 23, 2024, at Hope Fellowship Church in Prosper, Texas, where loved ones gathered to honor his memory and the joy he brought into their lives.
